Cedar Siding
Natural cedar is an excellent choice for Northwest homes. Cedar offers a timeless compliment to any architectural style from traditional to contemporary. All of our cedar siding comes from Lakeside Lumber, Oregon's premier cedar siding supplier. Lakeside Lumber has the best quality pre-primed cedar siding on the market today. Lakeside Lumber uses a premium flood prime process to prime all their cedar siding and trim. Flood priming saturates boards with a long-bodied oil based primer and back-rolls the primer into the wood grain.

Select Tight Knot Cedar
Skookum Tight Knot Cedar is one of our most popular siding types. It is milled to offer a natural grained appearance with small knots that are coated on the backside.
Clear Finger-Jointed Cedar
Clear Finger-Jointed Cedar looks like clear cedar, but is more economical. It is milled to offer a uniform appearance free of knots.
Clear Vertical Grain Cedar
Clear Vertical Grain is the best quality cedar available. It is milled to offer a uniform appearance.
Western Red Cedar Shingles
Western Red Cedar Shingles are milled in Washington or Canada and are the most common shingles used in the Northwest. We only install the optimum quality #1 Grade A shingles. Although Western Red Shingles can be left unfinished, we recommend staining or painting them for the best performing and longest lasting finished product.
We install them with 7/16" wide galvanized crown staples, or stainless steel staples for an additional cost. We recommend using shingles that are rebutted and resquarred, 16" or 18" long, variable widths, and are typically installed with a 6" exposure for 16" shingles or 7" exposure for 18" shingles. In addition, if you want to paint your shingles we offer 18" shingles that are kiln-dried, sanded, and pre-primed.
Eastern White Cedar Shingles
Eastern White Cedar Shingles are the most beautiful shingles available in the world. They are imported from Quebec and have been used in the harsh Northeast Coastal regions for centuries. These shingles are usually left untreated and age to a beautiful silver color. They are virtually maintenance free and you can save thousands in painting costs over time. They are installed with 7/16" galvanized crown staples, or stainless steel staples for an additional cost. The staples are rebutted and resquarred, 16" long, come in variable widths, and are typically installed with a 6" exposure.
Shingle Panel Products
There are several shingle panel products on the market. The two most popular in the Northwest are Shakertown and Cedar Valley. Both replicate real cedar shingles and can be stained or painted. We consider Cedar Valley to be the best shingle panel on the market. They are made of real cedar shingles fastened to a solid sheets of ¼" plywood. A 15 lbs. moisture barrier is layered between each course of shingles.
Although panel products are fine for some applications, it is usually more cost effective to use real cedar shingles instead of panels. In addition, real cedar shingles applied directly to your house will last longer and perform better than panels.
Cedar Siding Installation
We install all cedar siding with hot-dipped galvanized or stainless steel nails (the best nails available) and always hand nail with a hammer rather than use a nail gun. Hand nailing is the best and most accurate method of installation. Nail guns over-drive nails causing nail heads to pull through boards, resulting in unsightly cracks and holes.
Fiber Cement Siding
The most common type of fiber cement Siding is Hardi-Plank, made by James Hardie Corporation. Fiber cement is an economical alternative to wood siding. It is made from silica, cement, wood fiber, water, and other ingredients. Hardi-Plank comes in a variety of sizes and patterns.
